As I look at Lynx Lake from my window, I can’t help but marvel at how the forests and my garden have transformed themselves from a drab grey to a vibrant green in just a few weeks. Ferns that could have easily been mistaken for dead only days ago are now waist high, the candles on the pines are a bright green, and the forests are lush. The Lake level is slightly above normal and the water clarity is best this time of year. I’ve seen bass on nests and muskies cruising the shallows. The calls of the loons punctuate the night and the buzz of the hummingbirds reminds us that summer is here.
It is hard to imagine that life on Lynx is anything but normal. One can easily be lulled into a false sense of security. The very real threat of Covid-19 seems not to apply to life on Lynx Lake. While there is a degree of truth to that, as social distancing is part of the protocol and days are spent outside away from the crowds, we still need to keep our guard up especially when visiting town or local establishments.
Because of Covid-19, your Board has decided that we will postpone our annual Property Owners Meeting and will not be collecting dues this year as we have enough in our cash reserves to see us through. If you have already paid your dues or wish to do so, we will apply them to 2021. I am suggesting, however, that rather than paying your property owner dues, you may want to consider a tax deductible donation to the Lynx Lake Conservation Foundation. The threat of an invasive species to Red Bass and Lynx Lake is very real and the need to monitor the health of our Lakes is ongoing.
I am also writing to ask you to please sign up for our website at www.lynxlakepi.com if you have not already done so. Our website has made great strides since its launch in 2019. It is the perfect vehicle to keep everyone abreast and informed as to what is happening on the Lake. Updates can easily be made and rather than receiving a newsletter several times a year, you will receive updates all year long. Signing up is easy. All you have to do is go to the website and enter your email address. You will then receive notification with each new post to the website.

You can find the recent study of our Lake by White Water Associates, archival information on our bass log project, locations of old fish cribs, ice out dates, past President letters, and beautiful photos of the Lake. There is lots there and more will be added. Our website will be the vehicle by which we will stay connected as we phase out the mailings.
